Leadership & Portfolio • Supports the deployment of strategy, objectives and targets for Quality Management within local
ABB organizational unit in line with QMS, Quality policy and local strategy • Collaborates with management within the
local ABB unit to innovatively shape the design and development of own functional area. Supports the management to
demonstrate commitment with respect to specific quality content, tools and systems. • Supports specific communication
related to the area of responsibility. • Supports the local organization by providing training and coaching to create Quality
& Continuous Improvement oriented teams • Promotes a work environment that stimulates passion for Quality, integrity in
all the actions, and results orientation • Conducts test protocols as assigned to ensure the products, systems or software
meet specified requirements and customer expectations in incoming, manufacturing, factory test labs or final inspection
quality, including internal testing routine and F.A.T. as applicable. • Supports quality control needs and activities for
supplier quality, production quality, testing & validation, engineering, as applicable in the local organization. • Executes
and assists specific quality related training, promoting passion for Quality, integrity in all the actions, and results
orientation.• Support the deployment of a common approach for continuous improvement and strategy deployment.•
Engages with the leadership to help delivering significant improvements in People, Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory
and/or Cost targets, meeting customer and stakeholder commitments.• Promotes local management awareness and
commitment related to Continuous Improvement throughout the organization.• Coaches continuous improvement
professionals in their development journey, such as Lean Six Sigma belts or equivalent.• Works in cross functional teams
to execute the strategy and escalate as necessary to remove roadblocks that slow or prevent the successful
implementation and adoption of continuous improvement initiatives, helps facilitating in cases of conflicting priorities.•
Promotes and leads improvement programs and projects within the scope of responsibility, with a hands-on (Gemba) and
problem-solving approach.• Understands and promotes behavioral change to continuously improve performance.
Assurance - Assists in continuously identifying and addressing risks and opportunities related to the local organization or
its Quality Management. • Performs audits and ensures the use of analytics of Quality data from all parts of the
organization to identify risks, failures and non-conformances. • Assists in the application of appropriate corrective and
preventive action and manages solutions to closure.• Based on risks and opportunities, assists Quality Management team
to implement short, medium- and long-term strategy, activities and plans to develop the Quality Management System •
Reports quality issues data, ensuring the Quality Management System is adhered to at all stages. • Organizes and
allocates testing resources to meet customer delivery commitments and testing requirements effectively and efficiently. •
Collects, records and evaluate data & is reported and interpreted according to the internal ABB specifications, customer
norms, applicable national and/or global standards, always under a high level of integrity. • Escalates through the
organization any case of product quality or safety non-conformance.• Supports relevant deployment of metrics and tools

Supports the local organization has the necessary hardware and software capabilities to assure workshop services meet
specified requirements and customer expectations, including production measurement and/or laboratory equipment.
Knowledge Skills - Promotes the vision for zero-defects and supports the local teams to ensure that requirements from
ABB, customers and stakeholders can be fulfilled, focusing on prevention rather than only control. • Acts as a local
process owner for defined Quality-related processes, systems or tools, including definition & documentation (Plan),
implementation & communication (Do), supervision & control (Check) and continuous improvement (Act) of the process. •
Performs activities related to designated areas within Quality: customer & claims management, manufacturing quality,
quality planning, product safety & compliance, design & development quality, audits & reporting • Assists engineering staff
to develop test protocols as necessary to investigate the integrity of new products, or new functionality for existing
products. • Provides support to other functional teams as needed to establish test protocols and to perform inspections. •
Utilizes safety systems to perform work, resulting in an accident-free workplace. Notifies others when unsafe situations
are observed and works with local HSE teams to improve the safety systems. • Performs activities related to designated
areas within Quality Control: quality testing & verification, laboratory & certifications, product safety & compliance, audits
& reporting.• Promotes a systematic fact-based approach and the applicable tools to identify and to evaluate
opportunities, to execute improvement projects and all issue resolution activities.• Works towards disseminating a
Continuous Improvement mindset and culture at all levels, activities, and all functions.• Provides training, coaching and
facilitation support to achieve operational excellence and drive local business results.• Partners with management at local
level to develop and maintain the training modules and toolkit that aligns with specific needs of the business.
Business & Customer Focus - Promotes the Voice of the Customer at the local unit, and assists that risks, problems and
solutions are evaluated from a customer/stakeholder point of view.• Supports resolution of customer cases, guiding and
coaching on robust root cause analysis and corrective actions. • Supports customer focused Quality Management in a
highly effective (Customer Satisfaction) and efficient (Cost) way, including processes and tools to ensure flawless and
repeatable services or project execution, identification of gaps and potential for improvement. • Assists with local functions
to ensure voice-of-the-customer and professional quality management concepts are used to ensure best possible process
design quality. • Ensures that identified problems from Quality Control are understood and evaluated from a
customer/stakeholder point of view.• Collaborates in the resolution of problems to completion, following robust root cause
analysis and corrective actions.• Mentors and coaches teams in proper performance management to achieve operational
excellence and drive business results.
Governance - Assists the organization in achieving desired strategic and operational results through the means of the
quality management system. • Leads the development and deployment of local policies, regulations and processes that
make up the Quality Management System (QMS). • Ensures these are effective in meeting customer and shareholder
expectations. • Supports senior business management to ensure that the System is continually evaluated for
effectiveness. • Ensures governance of local Quality related systems and tools in close collaboration with the Continuous
Improvement function, IS, and other functions as appropriate.• Tracks programs, initiatives, projects, KPIs to demonstrate
progress and value to help decision makers allocate resources and recognize success.
Improvements: • Benchmarking within the industry, inside and outside ABB to continuously challenge the status quo and
further develop the organizational self perception. • Drives initiatives, to improve on agreed aspects of Quality, in close
collaboration with local units and across multiple units or functions as applicable. • Ensures effective and efficient review
of Quality Management System by local leadership to sustain its continuing suitability, adequacy, effectiveness and
alignment with the strategic direction of the organization and to identify opportunities for improvement.• Provides feedback
and advises engineering / R&D on improvement opportunities in product and/or process design • Develops skills at
individual, team, and organizational levels, and promotes a continuous learning and improvement mindset, facilitating the
exchange of best practices over organizational boundaries. • Drives and/or joins systematic benchmarking of external
processes and techniques, introducing the applicable ones into ABB.
